BACT's annual tradition of bringing a fairytale to life through dance returns with its original adaptation of Rapunzel at the historic Quincy Music Theatre. The story, based on the Disney movie Tangled and the Grimm Brothers fairytale, begins with the birth of a Princess Rapunzel followed by her kidnapping by Dame Gothel. Set in Rapunzel's tower as well as picturesque locations throughout the kingdom, Rapunzel seeks adventure and a true battle of the wills between she and Dame Gothel ensues. In true fairytale fashion good conquers evil and Rapunzel is reunited with her prince, guest artist Aleck Condon.
Sunday's matinee performance features a "Meet and Greet" with Rapunzel and her friends. Professional photographs courtesy of AJ Studios Photography along with sweet treats and more follow the performance. The meet and greet is a fundraiser for the MKS Young Dancer Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization.
Quincy Music Theatre is the perfect setting for this production and is a short distance from Tallahassee via I-10. The run time is the just the right length to introduce young children to live dance and theater. Rapunzel is perfect for the young and the young at heart!

About the Venue
Built in 1949, The Leaf Theater was one of Quincy’s two movie theatres. In the 1960′s, single-screen theaters gave way to multiplex cinemas and in 1980 The Leaf closed its doors and sat neglected downtown.
In 1983, an enthusiastic theatre group in need of a permanent home began performing in churches and schools. That same year, a small group of local private citizens purchased The Leaf. Grants and private donations for restoration were secured and the neglected building was transformed into a grand entertainment facility once more!
Located less than 30 minutes west of the heart of Tallahassee, Quincy Music Theatre is North Florida’s largest and only all-musical community theater. The Quincy Music Theater features top quality performances from musicians, actors, artists, choreographers, dancers, technical theater professionals, and directors throughout the Quincy / Gadsden and Tallahassee / Leon County Communities.
